Small Groups

Community...Study...Service

Small Groups are an opportunity for people to connect regularly on their way back to God. Spiritual, emotional and relationship growth takes place as each group journeys together through studying and discussing the application of God's story in their lives. A small group leader facilitates and encourages conversation and care of the entire group. Most small groups usually last around 1 1/2 hours and meet either weekly or twice a month.

Study Materials for your Small Group

The Prodigal God (Finding your place at the table) --A 6 week study using a DVD and discussion guide by Tim Keller. This is a study of an old story, the Prodigal Son, and how we can see with new eyes, God’s radical love for his children. A journey of an extravagant Father who embraces the wayward and the devout. Can be checked out from the Crossings office.

Open Table (An invitation to know God) --This small book and weekly DVD (5 week study) created by Donald Miller (Blue Like Jazz) invites your group to discuss some of life’s greatest questions. What is Christianity? Who is Jesus? How does faith affect our lives? Each week is a study of an interaction that Jesus has with someone in Scripture. Can be checked out from the Crossings office.

Nooma DVDs --A series of short films (10-12 minutes each) with a discussion guide for each. Each film covers a specific topic on spiritual issues that real people are facing today. Can be checked out from the Crossings office.

Everything is Spiritual DVD --(1 hour 45 minutes, great to use for 2 or 3 weeks). In the Hebrew Scriptures there is no word for "spiritual" and Jesus never used the phrase "spiritual life." For Jesus and his tradition, all of life is spiritual. Great discussion for your small group. Can be checked out from the Crossings office.

Knowing God’s Will --8 sessions with your small group which involves personal study and some DVD teaching by Andy Stanley. This study covers pursuing God’s will, seeking wise counsel, discernment, and understanding the mind of God through Scripture. Can be checked out from the Crossings office.

Multiple ways to study the Bible --see Monica for a list and explanations of each.
